This post will probably be a bit depressing. I plan on writing about all of the awful no good very bad things that have happened to me recently. Feel free to skip this if you want. My next post will be all sunshine and lollipops I promise.
First my computer issues:
_As I previously posted my computer was acting up. Even trying to defragment in safe mode caused blue screens. After a few calls to a guy I know and a few work arounds that didn't work he said it might be a corrupted microsoft service pack (either 2 or 3). So I uninstalled them and tried to reinstall them. That didn't work. After a while I couldn't stay on for more than an hour or two before I got a blue screen. I also found out that this computer was supposed to come with a recovery program. It didn't have one. So I ended up having to give it to the guy so he could take it home and fix it. This took a hell of a lot longer than expected since squirrels messed up his phone line. Since he uses that line for both his internet and his business he ended up way behind and paying clients take priority over me. So I finally got it back and he made a recovery disc for me.
_About a week goes by and I've reinstalled almost all of my important programs (Firefox, synaptics pointing device, two different media converters). Then I had to go somewhere while windows was doing an update so I stopped it. Latter on I went to update it and everything seemed fine until it had to restart for the update to work. Blue screen. A while after that I got another blue screen. Then my computer tried (and failed) to open up my yahoo page on internet explored as a Firefox document. Then I couldn't get Firefox to work. I tried to save what few new files I had to my external hard drive but that was screwing up as well. I did a scan and fix thing of my computer but that didn't help. So I tried the discs. I had a hell of a time trying to get them to do anything. Eventually I found out how to get the first disk to do something. It erased everything. But I figured it was ok since the other disk would put all of the stuff I needed back on right? Wrong. So after several futile attempts I decided that my only hope was Ubuntu.
_I had heard a lot of good things about Ubuntu and I was thinking of trying it when my system was messing up earlier. So now that I needed an OS and windows was out of the question I decided to give it a try. It was about two in the morning so I didn't want to call the guy. Well it seemed to install ok until I tried to go on the internet. First it couldn't find the wireless signal. Then it said that there were corrupted files on my system. It turned out to be a complete waste of time. Although I did like the games that came with it especially majong.
_I had to call the guy back and he told me I had done it wrong. But it wasn't beyond help and I was soon able to get the recovery disks to work right. Since then everything has been working great.
To go along with my computer woes my work was a mess too. Apparently I was told I was scheduled for 11pm to 7am for the whole show (10 days) but the paper work told a different story. First I got a call not to come in the first night. Then I found out that the paperwork had me down for 11pm to 10am for several days. Fortunately I didn't have to stay those extra three hours. Also for a few nights there were too many people and some one was asked to go home. I volunteered because I was worried about having to stay extra. Then I got a call not to come in on the last night. I wonder how much longer the company will last.
In addition to all of this my mom and dad had an argument and she took a bunch of her sleeping medication. My dad didn't notice anything wrong until she started slurring her speech. So he called an ambulance and the hospital was able to save her. After her initial treatment she was sent off to some hospital way out in the suburbs that was too far out for me and dad to visit. She eventually came home and she seems to be doing ok.
Also I may ave my own health problems. For about two days my hands and feet were really itchy. I was scratching until I was almost bleeding and it wouldn't stop. It was difficult to sleep and I have no idea what caused it but it eventually went away. I was talking to a friend at work who noticed that I get a lot of head aches. She said it might be caused by high blood pressure. That might be contributing to my tinnitus and sometimes I feel dizzy so who knows? After the holidays I'm going to go to a free clinic and get it checked out. I can't afford a regular doctor. All of this isn't helped by the fact that my lack of health insurance could soon earn me a fine. Of course if I was able to keep all that I earn I would have bought health insurance already. But my dislike of the government is another issue apart from all this.
Tune in at some point in the future for: RUPERT AND SALAD BARBARIAN'S DAY OF FUN!
