Well I ended up buying more books both comic and non. From the thrift store I got "A birds eye view of Jewish history", "Sources of Chinese traditions", and "The long dark teatime of the soul". (I also found another wooden monk.) I checked out a different comic store than usual and instead of 50 cent bins they had $1 bins. There were so many boxes that I couldn't go through them all but I noticed that the comics were a lot more recent then the cheaper ones at the other store. Anyway I picked up Amazing Spiderman 537 (it's the one where Captain America gives a great speech), Atomic Robo: Dogs of War (parts 4 and 5). Then I paid full price for Fin Fang 4 Return and Galacta: Daughter of Galactus.

Let's see has there been anything else I've done? I've bought several strips of Taste of Chicago tickets in preparation for that starting this friday. I don't know if I'll be able to try all of the different foods I want but I make an effort. I just hope it rains on the days I go so it's not crowded.

Also I remember promising scans showing all of you the comic book called Protectors that had a hole in it. Well here's the cover: (Warning this is graphic)Read more... )

That hole goes through the entire book, letter page and all. For those of you who don't know the 90s was a real bad time for comics. Almost every company was putting out special gimmick covers for speculators who were hoping to resell them at a latter time for a profit. It didn't work as evidenced by the fact that I bought the above comic for 50 when it was originally marked $2.95. I'm not an expert so I'll refrain form getting into a long rant against that era when everything had to be extreme with a capital X.

To get over that slight downer here is Brent Spiner in the role that made him famous:

Have a nice day!

PS. Is there anything that I can type as my location that google maps can't find?

So I've been pretty busy lately with work. When are people going to learn capitalism doesn't work! (joke) Ok a few things that have been going on with me:

The zipper on my work bag broke. It was giving me trouble for awhile but it finally got beyond the point of being able to fix it. So I ended up lugging my coffin case. It's a bit too big and it's heavy but I could use the workout. I also noticed that since I started bringing it first shift has been reliving me on time. I wonder if there's a connection?

The few plants that were growing in the little garden I made died. I guess I didn't plant them deep enough. I'm still watering it though since there are other seeds in there that might start up.

Yesterday was free comic book day! I got Atomic Robo, Iron Man-Thor, and The Tick (a reprint of the first issue!).

I also ended up buying The Tick (The New Series) (It has color!) (parentheses are fun), Translucent #2 (it was in the $5 manga bin and I couldn't find #1), and last but certainly not least direct from the 50 cent bin: Protectors! (It has a hole going through the entire comic and the cover has slightly raised areas to show off the blood! Totally 90s dude!).

I'll try to get some scans from them to show all of you at some point in the future. I know some of you are into comics. What did you get?

Time for me to go to sleep. Feel free to comment on any of this or just ask a random question. Have a great day!

A while ago I posted this image in a post:

Now I know I've posted this as a comment to several of you to try and cheer you up. But recently someone said that it didn't quite make sense to her. Now most of the things I post don't have any sense to them but I decided that I should give you all some context for this image.

Thus I present to you Marvel Adventures Ant-Man!: 14 pages under the cut )

Over all it's a great issue though I like regular continuity better where Pym creates the growing/shrinking ability himself. What do all of you think? Does context help the panel?

Also since this is a heroic story:

Program Director: Take 2, cue Howard.

Beale: I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's worth; banks are going bust; shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter; punks are running wild in the street, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it.

We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat. And we sit watching our TVs while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!

We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.

It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we're living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, "Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials, and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone."

Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.

I want you to get motivated! Because this fight isn't about fists, it's about inspiring people to be better.

I want you to take a seat in an auditorium and listen as Captain America and Wonder Woman give the best speeches of their long careers. I want you to imagine them giving original speeches here. As in not something that has already been said.

[Poll #1454570]

Bonus: comment with what you think they would say in their speeches and I'll respond with a picture of a cute animal.

Well it wasn't soon but I'm back. Have some comics to make it all better:
